1 Million Cups (1MC) Plano is a local chapter of a free national program (from the Kauffman Foundation) designed to educate, engage, and connect entrepreneurs. It provides a supportive, "front porch" platform where early-stage startups can present their business ideas, receive feedback, and connect with a diverse community of mentors and peers. The Plano community is led by volunteer organizers, including Masako Mai (Lead Organizer) and Bert Robinson Jr. Their mission is to cultivate the local entrepreneurial ecosystem and lower barriers for startups through community support. Entrepreneurs who have a startup (typically less than five years old), can apply to present their story to this community.
This special forum will educate those entrepreneurs on the local landscape of resources available to them here in Plano. It will also serve to allow a space for them to voice the struggles and barriers they may face as a modern entrepreneur – giving the local agencies the feedback they need to allocate relevant support.
