About Us

Founded in 1988 by PISD school counselor Nancy Boyd, and educator Kay Goodman, what began as a 6-bed teen shelter has grown into a 48-bed multi-faceted agency that includes a children's emergency shelter, three transitional living homes, free individual & family counseling services, street outreach, and a Youth Resource & Community Outreach Center. Serving Collin & Dallas County and the majority of North Texas, the mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter, transitional residential living and street-outreach programs and services to at-risk children, youth and young adults (newborn to 24 years) who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness, with a special focus on supporting the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.
