About the musical:
Hunchback premiered in 1999 in Berlin, Germany as Der Glöckner von Notre Dame ("The Bellringer of Notre Dame"). Music is by acclaimed composer, Alan Menken, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and the book is by Peter Parnell. Produced by Walt Disney Theatrical, it was the company's first musical to premiere outside the U.S.
While the movie musical several years ago had a lighter mood, the musical is a darker, more gothic adaptation of the film.
