Plano Chamber helps Mayor Muns Kick Off 2022 Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program

The Plano Chamber of Commerce helped Mayor John Muns kick off his 2022 Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program last month at Coffee with the Mayor. A panel of business owners and former and current high school interns joined the Mayor to talk about the program's impact and importance for our community.

Combining Plano's vibrant business community with a nationally-recognized school district, the Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program is a paid, summer high school internship program designed to connect motivated rising juniors and seniors with exceptional local companies.

Since 2014, the inaugural year for the program, over 600 Plano high school students have received internships at small and large companies, nonprofits and governmental agencies throughout the city. Providing life-changing, real work experiences, these internships have helped build the vision and the skills needed for students to successfully transition into college and into future careers. And for participating companies, the Mayor’s Summer Internship Program has proved to be a rewarding investment in the area’s future workforce — showing interns that their hometown is more than a starting point, it is a career destination.

The program is still seeking companies to host interns this summer.  To learn more, please contact Vicki Wait at or (214) 577-7975, or log on to
