SUMMARY:TEDxPlano Brown Bag Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Business for Good. Good for Business.\n\n\nTopic 1: Can Businesses solve social problems? (Michael Porter)\n\nTopic 2: How to get your ideas to spread. (Seth Godin)\n\n\n\nTEDx events are about "ideas worth spreading". We are bringing TEDx to Plano and want to include you in the conversation. The TEDx Plano Brown Bags are community outreach events to engage the people of Plano in some important conversations about our future. Each "Brown Bag" focuses on one broad topic that is relevant to the venue and the expected audience. The Brown Bags consist of a couple of highly rated videos from prior TED talks selected by the TEDx Plano curation team. The talks will be followed by a short facilitated activity/discussion to start a conversation about the topic in the community.\n\n\n\nThe two talks we have selected for the Plano Chamber of Commerce hosted Brown Bag have to do with the role of Business in society. These talks are pre-recorded. \n\n\n\nThe talk by Michael Porter was initially given at the TED conference in 2013. Prof. Porter is a University Professor at Harvard Business School\, where he leads the Institute on Strategy and Competitiveness\, studying competitiveness for companies and nations -- and as a solution to social problems. He is the founder of numerous nonprofits\, including The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City\, a nonprofit\, private-sector organization to catalyze inner-city business development.\n\n \n\nThe talk by Seth Godin was initially given initially given in 2003. Seth Goodin is a marketer\, author\, blogger and entrepreneur. "Seth Godin may be the ultimate entrepreneur for the Information Age\," Mary Kuntz wrote in Business Week nearly a decade ago.\n\n \n\nPlease bring your lunch\, come to hear these amazing talks\, learn some new ideas\, meet some people and most of all become part of the conversation.
