SUMMARY:Head for the Cure 5K - North Texas
DESCRIPTION:Head for the Cure Foundation is a non profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding to fight brain cancer. Together\, we are working to defeat brain cancer step by step.\n\n\n\nAll proceeds will be given directly to the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC) at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston\, TX.\n\n\n\nAt the age of 28\, Stevie Patrick\, a resident of Frisco\, was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer on May 15\, 2010. Her doctors say Stevie is one in 200\,000 females her age to develop this type of brain cancer. She was treated throughout the summer months at M.D. Anderson and is currently monitored every 60 days on her progress. \n\n\n\nHead for the Cure embraced her story of courage\, strength and her ability to remain positive through such a difficult circumstance. We are honored to partner with Head for the Cure to host the Head for the Cure 5k - North Texas event and are asking for your support to help create awareness\, advance research\, and develop opportunities for new treatments. \n\n\n\nEach year about 200\,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. Improving the outlook for adults and children requires research of the causes and better treatments for all patients. \n\n\n\nPlease consider supporting this cause. The more funds raised\, the greater the opportunity for advancements in the treatments and cure of this disease!
