Job Description
This Dog Trainer position supports two CBW locations (Plano and Dallas High Five) by providing dog training services to pet parents through both individual instruction and group classes.  Individual instruction may take place in the client’s home or at Camp.  Group classes will take place at Camp Bow Wow Plano in our dedicated training room.  The Dog Trainer is a valued member of the Camp leadership team and will be responsible for providing continued education to CBW employees that will help them safely manage a group play environment.  The Dog Trainer is also a valued partner in our community outreach and will represent one of our faces to the public, promoting dog safety, training and enrichment education to pet parents both in person and through social media.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead small group classes at our CBW Plano location
  • Conduct private training both at Camp and in clients’ homes
  • Promote Camp Bow Wow and act as a Brand Ambassador
  • Engage with pet parents and community to promote dog safety and awareness
  • Observe and evaluate dog behaviors and provide insights to Camp employees
  • Provide excellent communication with pet parents about training progress
  • Keep meticulous & timely records of all financial transactions in our POS system
  • Provide continuing education to Camp staff on dog safety, behavior & body language
Essential Skills:
  • Outgoing, flexible, and eager to grow business
  • Two to five years of dog training experience
  • Experience conducting group sessions and individual training
  • Ability to build strong relationships with pets and pet parents
  • Work independently and collaboratively with Camp staff
  • Strong time management and project management skills are critical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Requirements:
  • Accepted Certifications:
    • Certified Professional Dog Trainer – CPDT-KA; CPDT-KSA, or CBCC-KA
    • IAABC (International Assoc of Animal Behavior Consultants) – Dog Division
  • Accepted Course Completions:
    • Peaceable Paws by Pat Miller
    • Karen Pryor Academy
    • Victoria Stilwell Academy
    • The Academy for Dog Trainers
    • CATCH Canine Trainers Academy
Availability:
The Dog Trainer’s schedule is somewhat flexible as it must align with the needs of our pet parents.  For instance, in-home training & group classes are often conducted in the evening or weekend hours.  Some weekend work is also required to attend community outreach and marketing events.  A small number of weekday hours will be set aside for continued education of Camp employees as well as management meetings and administrative tasks.
